Accidentally Married
From Will Gluck the writer of “Easy A” and “Friends with Benefits” comes a delightfully offbeat new romantic comedy. Liz (Zooey Deschanel) is a sarcastic and quirky aspiring writer who is working for her best friend Hannah’s (Christine Woods) party planning company. While at a bachelorette party for her friend Taylor (Dreama Walker) who is marrying frigid businessman Peter (Todd Grinnell), Liz marries unemployed musician Barney (Chris Pratt) in a drunken blur. Instead of divorcing Barney like any sane person, Liz decides to try to make their relationship work. Barney may be a bit immature and seems to lack focus, but he is also sweet, funny and willing to try to make things work with Liz. For the first time, Liz is truly doing something completely unplanned and stepping outside of her box. Barney moves into Liz and Taylor’s apartment in Seattle, and he and Liz begin a relationship despite being completely different. She continues to work for Hannah’s party planning company while writing, while Barney finally gets a job as a barista. Hannah, Taylor and Peter may not completely understand Barney and Liz’s decidedly unconventional marriage, but they do notice that Liz has been decidedly bolder and more adventurous since meeting Barney. “Accidentally Married” is a new comedy about getting married and then getting to know each other.
Crime and Corruption
Set against the backdrop of Chicago, “Crime and Corruption” is a bold and realistic new drama about the relationship between criminals and various branches of law enforcement. Righteous and aggressive Chicago District Attorney Rodrigo Mendoza (Jimmy Smits) was recently elected to the position of DA based on his promise of cleaning up corruption in the city and prosecuting criminals to the fullest degree, yet he doesn’t truly know the challenges he will face in the job. DA Mendoza works closely with ADA Rachel McKinnon (Evangeline Lily) who is an Ivy League graduate unafraid to shake up the way things are done in Chicago. Colin Breck (Warren Christie) is a dedicated investigator and single father whose focus is cases involving organized crime. He’s in a casual relationship with police officer Daniela Young (Maggie Siff) who is a recovered drug addict. Marlon Sydnor (Michael B. Jordan) is a young drug dealer from the wrong side of Chicago who has been trying to work his way up. Frank Bartley (Robert Forster) is a ruthless crime boss in Chicago who assures that investigators like Colin Breck can never trace anything back to him and who DA Mendoza has been unable to convict of anything. Leo Paulson (Tony Goldwyn) is a liberal Chicago politician whose various policies undeniably affect the lives of those in law enforcement, as he struggles to be effective in a city filled with red tape. “Crime and Corruption” is a new series that brilliantly relates politics, law enforcement and crime.
Exes
Breaking up sucks. Just ask recently divorced Carrie Baker (Christine Taylor) who found her husband in bed with their daughter’s math tutor, who was a guy. To make matters worse, her ex-husband Max (Chris Diamontopoulos) moved into the house across the street and is living with his younger boyfriend, Keith (Sean Maguire) the math tutor. Try explaining that one to your two kids - ages fourteen (Israel Broussard) and ten (Joey King). Breaking up sucked equally as much for hotshot commercial real estate agent Will Henson (Tom Cavanagh) who had a fear of commitment for good reason, his girlfriend of six years Jenna (Natalie Zea) was using him for his money and when his bank account dried up, she left him. Carrie and Will meet in a parking garage and instantly hit it off. The only problem is they both come with a lot of baggage. She has three kids, something Will never wanted and they both have exes who never seem to leave them alone. As hard as they try, their old significant others will always be a part of both their lives as they all blend into one big dysfunctional family. “Exes” is a hilarious comedy about those family ties we just can’t seem to sever.
My Side of the Law
It’s hard to know how two siblings can turn out so different. What was the moment when their lives took opposite turns? Federal Marshal Bridget Cox (Ashley Judd) is tough as nails, by-the-books, dedicated and a mom to her two kids. Her husband has been out of the picture for a few years and she’s been a high ranking federal marshal based in Philadelphia. She often feels she doesn’t give enough to her kids because of how time consuming her job is. As a U.S. marshal she protects the justice system, manages witness security and transports and tracks prisoners. She is under the control of Deputy Marshal James (G.W. Bailey) and works closely alongside her friend and fellow marshal Graham (Paul Blackthorne) as well as Jack (Mykelti Williamson). Yet Bridget’s life is turned upside down when her brother Vince Cox (Patrick Wilson) is released from jail after being imprisoned for 6 years for attempting to rob a bank. Although they both grew up with the same blue collar background in Philadelphia, she went into law enforcement while Vince became a criminal like their father. Vince has a certain bad boy charm, and can’t seem to stay out of trouble. Bridget decides to let Vince move in with her and the kids, as despite everything they still always will have a special bond. Vince helps out with her kids and gets a job as a mechanic. Unbeknownst to Bridget, while she is working with her team as a U.S. marshal during the day, her brother is planning a huge heist with a team. “My Side of the Law” is a captivating new drama about the bond between two siblings who just so happen to be on opposite sides of justice.
Palo Alto
Can one moment really change your life forever? For rebellious 15 year-old runaway Ali Delaney (Skyler Samuels) the answer is yes. As she is running away from her latest in a long line of foster homes, Ali is hit by a car. The driver of that car is beautiful and wealthy Zora Carson (Rosemarie DeWitt), who is currently going through her third divorce. In an attempt to make nice with Ali, Zora offers Ali a temporary place to stay in a bedroom in Zora’s Palo Alto mansion. During her stay with Zora, Ali connects with the somewhat vapid but well-meaning Zora. Zora shocks even herself when she decides to let Ali live with her and requests temporary custody of her. Also living with Zora and Ali in Zora’s mansion is her personal assistant, plucky and spirited Darcy (Casey Wilson). Ali is forced to adjust to life among the wealthy in Palo Alto, as she struggles to not be known as the rebel at her new school, where she makes friends with the preppy and proper Janey (Erin Sanders). Ali also develops a crush on Zora’s neighbor’s son in Palo Alto, Thad (Colton Haynes) who is a star lacrosse player with a girlfriend. Ali becomes friend with Seth (Martin Henderson), the grungy owner of a local coffee shop who acts as almost a mentor to her as she tries to figure out life in the new city. Throughout the series, Ali and Zora become closer as they both try to figure out how to function as a mother and daughter and as both of them change and evolve. “Palo Alto” is a charmingly offbeat new drama about a teenage girl in the unfamiliar world of the wealthy and a woman who is trying to learn to be a parent.
Raising Ben
Ben Ward (David Walton) is living his dream. He is a top sports reporter at American Sports Network which is his dream job. His beautiful if vain girlfriend Sasha (Rachael Taylor) also works as a reporter at the network and his best friend macho former football star Kellan (David Denman) is a producer at the network. Ben’s boss at the network (Kevin Nealon) is demanding and harsh, yet seems to really like Ben. Everyone in Boston knows Ben Ward, and if he’s not reporting at the latest sports event, he’s out at a party of club event with Sasha. Yet Ben’s perfect life is turned upside down when his brother is killed in a tragic car accident, and Ben is put in charge of raising the three kids. Chelsea (Hayley Macfarland) is a 15 year old high school freshman, Brayden (Nolan Gould) is a 10 year old who is a little slow and Ava is an 8 month old baby. Ben has to move from his chic apartment into one that has enough bedrooms for all three kids. He seems completely unsuited to raise kids, and his girlfriend isn’t ready to help so they break-up. Ben begins to count on his new neighbor Megan (Eloise Mumford), an attractive med student, and her roommate Holly (Krysten Ritter) an artist and waitress, to help him out. Ben has to adjust to life with three kids as they have to adjust to life without their parents. He also has to juggle his demanding career and social life as well as a crush on Megan. “Raising Ben” is a heartfelt and humorous new comedy about raising kids while still growing up yourself.
Wanted
The new series “Wanted" is an exhilarating thrill-ride of a drama, from Oscar winner Ron Howard. Amanda Davis (Golden Globe Winner Claire Danes) wakes up in a hospital in Chicago, without a clue of who she is or where she is from. All she knows about herself is what she saw on the news, which said that she is a Princeton-educated former CIA agent wanted for a string of high-profile murders in Washington DC. She remembers nothing about herself or her past, but she is extremely intelligent and quick. She leaves the hospital fearing they will figure out who she is, and goes on the run, assuming different identities in the pursuit of uncovering the truth about why she is wanted. Amanda has one number programmed into the cell phone that was found with her. She calls the number, Daniel Jensen (Timothy Olyphant) a political reporter in Chicago answers. She learns to trust Daniel, as he helps guide her as to how she can figure out what happened on the night she was framed for murder and Daniel becomes a target of the government as well. The conspiracy is even bigger she could have imagined, as she is followed at every corner. Her fiancé, CIA agent Michael Neal (Brandon Routh), has to unwillingly work with the Director of the CIA (Gerald McRaney) to try to capture her. Amanda will go undercover, and risk her life to try to uncover the truth about who she is and what happened on the night that she was accused of murder.
