Here are 4 new releases scheduled for next year, give me your thoughts, as im not sure about a couple of them.
Brooklyn Girl – Sophie Westfelt (Drew Barrymore) has come a long way from poor college student in Brooklyn, all the way to Upper East Side trophy wife. She worked very hard to get Westfelt as a last name and she hasn’t looked back. She may be less than 20 miles from her former apartment, but she is worlds apart, and at 35 this is the world she knows now. Her life revolves around her 8 year old daughter, 6 year old son, pleasing her wealthy husband (Jason Patric), and attending society events. She has the dream life. The once spunky Brooklyn girl had become a bit more refined to say the least. When her husband tragically dies in a car accident, Sophie faces the realization that her husband was in fact going bankrupt, that her multimillion dollar Manhattan apartment now belongs to the bank, and that she is out on her own with no skills to speak of.
All her Prada bags, wealthy society friends, and pretty shoes can’t help her now, as she has to actually put her NYU journalism degree to use working her way up in the magazine industry. Her coworker, hotshot writer (Tom Everett Scott), helps her out but his intentions might not be so pure, while her other coworker Leah (Linda Cardellini) befriends her. She moves back to Brooklyn, where she promised she’d never return, as a local artist (James Marsden) helps her out with her kids. Sophie may have lost her husband, but in the process she regained herself. She must convince New York’s elite that she is still worth the time of day, pretend she still lives in the upper eastside to impress her friends, send her kids to public school, work a 60 hour week, and perhaps find romance again. Brooklyn Girl is a charming and funny romantic dramedy about the truly important things in life.
You & Me – A modern romance story of a couple over the course of a 15 year period, seen at different turning points in their lives. The story begins in 1995, when Isabel (Rachel McAdams) meets Nathan (Benjamin McKenzie) at the age of 20 in Princeton. Isabel is from the wrong side of New Jersey with a hard past and a carefree attitude, who wants to be an actress. Nathan is the son of a senator attending Princeton, and had a privileged past, yet his relationship with his father is broken and he is tired of living up to his family’s expectation that he go into law or politics. Nathan begins a relationship with Isabel, who is working at a coffee shop, despite the fact that he is still with his high school sweetheart who his parents adore. Their relationship continues throughout the next 15 years, as they both experience good times and bad times and their relationship hits different highs and lows. You & Me is a romantic drama that explores different stages in the relationship of a two people from two different worlds and how love endures through the worst of times.
The Lost Ones – Social worker Deliah Reynolds (Kate Beckinsale) can see kids passing through her hands, and every year she works at her job it gets harder. After the death of her 7 year old daughter and with her marriage dissolving, she is viewed as unstable. When she takes on a troubled young teen’s (Willa Holland) case, her first since returning to work after her daughter’s death, she becomes convinced that the girls foster parents are hiding a dark secret: that they murdered a girl in their care. The only problem is no record of this girl exists, and Deliah is simply going by instinct and what the young girl said. Most think she is suffering from an emotional breakdown and becoming delusional but Deliah has been convinced by the girl that the foster parents murdered the other girl. The Lost Ones is a psychological horror thriller that is both scary and intense.
My Friend Clyde – For rising lawyer Charlie Liman (Adam Sandler) his career is on the fast track. He’s fast talking, quick-witted and looking to make partner, but his personal life is not such a success. His marriage to his high school sweetheart Becki (Renee Zellweger) has floundered and she has quickly found love with a more “sensitive” soccer dad (Paul Rudd). His friends (Jason Segal & Jon Favreau) still hang out with him, but don’t care for who he has become. His children barely know him as he is always working. Yet a one bump on the head will change his life, when Charlie begins to see people who aren’t there and imagine giant earthquakes and crazy things. Yet the most common person he sees is Clyde (Russell Brand), a foul-mouthed British man who is outrageous and forces Charlie to speak up to his boss, tell the truth and act insane. But the same bump that is helping him reconnect with everyone, is also threatening his life because it’s a tumor. My Friend Clyde is a hilarious outrageous comedy about how all it takes is one hit to change his life.
