Toronto - A busy weekend and upcoming week as UPN prepares for highly anticipated upfront presentation. UPN CEO Pat Devine along with BlueLick has announced that they have locked up the rights to the the first 20 films from the James Bond series and every Jason film which includes Freddy vs. Jason from the Friday the 13th franchise. They have also locked up the rights to the 2009 hit reboot of Friday the 13th and any future sequels before 2015. The James Bond deal comes at an expensive price at $1.8 billion for the first 20 films through 2016. in the franchise which also gives them the rights to documentaries in the series and 1967 Casino Royale. Friday the 13th deal was worth $990 million through 2016 for every single film in the Jason franchise including the rights to the network television premiere of Friday the 13th (2009).
UPN will start airing both Bond and Friday the 13th as early as late June of this calendar year when the network launches unofficially. Friday the 13th (2009) will debut on Tuesday June 30, 2009 at 9pm/et. on UPN. Both franchises will get airings in prime time and during the day schedule. Both franchises will get all day marathons during this summer also.
